Performance Coaching

What is Performance?

"Doing everything you need to do to get the results you want to achieve more frequently and consistently".

Performance Coaching can be defined as helping the performer to get better at doing the things they need to do to get the results they want to achieve – more frequently and consistently. At the outset of performance coaching the coach supports the performer to define their purpose and what ‘success looks like for them’ before moving on to set outcome goals and objectives. Performance coaching involves challenging individuals as well as supporting them, so that they can build their skills and improve their performance in a balanced way.

A hallmark of this approach is that the performer is encouraged to take ownership and responsibility for all aspects of their own performance. With this comes the addition of accountability for the outcomes. The real essence of performance coaching is to build a partnership as the vehicle for performers to identify and stay focused on channelling their energy to maximise performance, achieve their personal best and thrive in their operating environment.

Our Approach to Performance Coaching

  • It is very firmly focused on improvement to deliver higher levels of performance. The results are very important but coaching is focused on supporting the performer to do the things they need to do to get the results they want to achieve - more consistently, more of the time, (The focus is on their performance process).
  • Helping individuals to be more ready to perform, by supporting them to better understand and refine their performance process. This approach challenges people to apply their learning in a focused way so that they can accelerate and deliver their best performance.
  • The approach is built on the Performance Coaching Framework Model. This Model is based on the foundations of high performance and being consistently ready to deliver your best performance. The coach uses the Model to identify the performers individual needs and as a guide to the how and what they do in coaching the performer.
  • It draws from my unique expertise and experience in working with Olympic and Paralympic athletes and coaches over a 30-year period spanning 5 Olympic Games.  I have applied my knowledge and experience in Olympic sport to the high- performance business environment. More recently, I have applied my knowledge and experience in Olympic sport to the high- performance business environment.
